Fiona: 5 of 30

Fiona, 6x6" oil on panel $125
Today I finally painted Cincinnati's little rockstar, Fiona the hippo. If you've been living under a rock you may not have heard of our girl.  She was born at 30lbs, too tiny to be with her mom.  Today thanks to her team of handlers she weighed in at over 450. It was touch & go. We almost lost her on several occasions.  You can learn more here. This takes you to The Fiona Show (no kidding!) I have been saving images of her for months.  I decided to take some liberty from her natural coloring, just for fun.

As usual I used a grid to transfer the image to my panel.

After laying in a transparent base I overlaid opaque colors

Yes, wild hippos are among the most dangerous animals on earth. Our hippo family is doing well together and seem to be content in their habitat.  With all the negative news today, its nice to have a success story to enjoy... #fionathehippo

I am grateful for the many blessings of my life as it is today.

Start where you are
Love what you have
Do what you can
